Privacy policy

This policy explains what data TrackYourPenny collects, why, and the choices you have. Our guiding principle is simple: we collect as little as possible, and your financial data is yours.
1. What we do not collect
We do not ask for or store your net-banking passwords, and we do not connect to your bank via account aggregators or any similar always-on link. The landing-page demo parses your file entirely in your browser and uploads nothing.
2. What we collect
- Account details, such as your email address, to create and secure your account.
- Statement data you upload, the transactions from statements you choose to import, so we can categorise and analyse them for you.
- Usage data, basic, privacy-respecting information needed to run and improve the Service.
3. How we use it
We use your data only to provide the Service: categorising transactions, answering your questions from your own numbers, and showing budgets, forecasts and nudges. AI-assisted features process only what is needed for the task, and AI usage is capped at the database level.
4. AI processing
Some features use an AI provider to, for example, map unfamiliar statement columns or answer questions from your own transaction data. Only the minimum necessary content is sent, the AI never writes to your records on its own, and every AI-initiated change requires your confirmation.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers strictly needed to operate the Service (such as hosting), under appropriate safeguards.
6. Your rights and choices
You can access and export your data, and delete your account and its data, at any time. Contact us for any request relating to your personal data.
7. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, and remove it after account deletion, subject to any legal obligations.
